Put Your Best Face Forward For The Holidays
Now that it’s time for the holiday parties, it’s time to glam up your daytime look and shine at your evening events. NY1’s Home reporter Jill Scott filed the following report.Whether it's a holiday party or New Year’s Eve, this season can require a lot of party hopping. So, partiers need to put their best face forward.
Makeup artist and aesthetician Elsa Zamora from Space NK shop at Bloomingdale's showed NY1 some easy tricks to prepare a day look for nighttime.
“To take your day look to an evening look is really, really easy, shouldn't take more than five minutes,” says Zamora. “You just need a few essentials in your makeup kit - maybe some smudge out the eye, some cheek [powder], maybe a little shimmer, a little more punchy lipstick and you’re ready to go.”
The first step involves smoking out the eyes.
“I suggest a good liner and a good smudge brush,” says Zamora. “There are a couple of ways you can do it. The first, if you want more of a soft look, grab it on to the brush and smudge it onto the lash line, going from where they start to where they end.”
For a more dramatic look, make a line with the pencil directly and use the brush to smudge it a bit.
Next step creates a little glow.
“I suggest starting with a rosewater spray,” says Zamora. “It really brings hydration to the skin and actually will liven your spirits and give you that dewy look. So, a couple of sprays is all you need. It’s not going to ruin your existing makeup. In fact, it will set it. The next thing you want to do is grab your concealer and give a little extra coverage where you think you will need it for the evening.”
After touching up those areas, take a little serum on your fingers and pat it into your skin for a more hydrated and radiant look.
Then, with a contour brush, punch up the cheeks’ color. Use a blush or bronzer with a little shimmer to add to a dewy look.
The last step involves the lips.
“To take your lips into a nighttime look a berry stain is perfect,” says Zamora. “For day, a gloss is appropriate, but for evening let’s do a stain. This way, it’s not all over your wine glass. Just be sure to use a brush, because it will stain your fingertips.”
Now your look will last all night, even if you're ready to call it a day.
