New Jersey Raises Highway Tolls
Drivers who use New Jersey's two main highways will have to pay more.
Starting Monday, one-way tolls on the Garden State Parkway will rose from 35 cents to 50 cents.
The cost of an average 22-mile trip on the New Jersey Turnpike will rise from $1.25 to $1.70.
The additional revenue will be used to pay for more than $8 billion in roadwork and repay bonds sold to finance past construction projects.
Under the hikes approved in October, another increase is planned for 2012.
