Stephen Sondheim’s latest Broadway musical deals with the life of architect Addison Mizner, and travelers can see one of Mizner’s houses, Rock Hall, just a short drive from the city in Connecticut. NY1's Travel reporter Valarie D'Elia filed the following report.

Anyone missed the limited engagement of Stephen Sondheim’s latest musical "Road Show" at the Public Theater recently, can still experience a part of the life of famed Florida architect Addison Mizner.

Rock Hall in Colebrook, Litchfield County, Connecticut, has quite the pedigree. Built by Mizner nearly 100 years ago, the wooded grounds surrounding it were landscaped by the firm of Frederick Law Olmsted of Central Park fame.

The 10,000-square-feet manor house is now in the capable hands of New Yorkers Stella and Michael Somers, who purchased the property five years ago and meticulously restored it after it fell into disrepair. Several decorative details are preserved, such as imaginative columns and walk-in fireplaces.

The Somers have now decided to make their jaw-dropping home available to guests, and the four rooms for rent showcase Stella's interior design savvy. Fun surprises like a billiard room and a home theater soften the formalities. Breakfast is a big production served in the exquisite dining room.

Rock Hall is about a two-and-a-half hour drive from Manhattan, within driving distance of several picture-perfect New England towns.

Opening rates at Rock Hall are being offered at 25 percent off from now through Memorial Day.

Weekday rates range from $240 to $320 a night Sunday through Thursday, subject to availability, and include breakfast. For more information, visit www.19rockhallroad.com.

Here's a D'Elia's Deal you don't want to miss at Rock Hall. Get a $20.09 gift certificate per stay that is good towards lunch or dinner at a choice of four prominent area restaurants.
